G-collection LORD

Ric Def design

The chaise longue Lord was presented for the first time at Interieur ‘70 the 2nd Biennale Kortrijk (Belgium). It was designed by Ric Def, Erik Deforce who was head of design for the whole line, named G-Collection, setting a new trend and a much more attractive and modern appeal to the otherwise more classic Gervan designs.

Made on a chrome steel frame the Lord is produced in different finishes of color, leather type, tissue or alcantara. The segmented seating gives this chair a nice curve and vibrant character. The tubular steel base makes a nice addition to the upholstered bed. The Lord, Deforce's undisputed masterpiece shows a particularly pure line based on the ergonomics and vertebral structure of the human body. In terms of appearance as well as design, it can undoubtedly stand next to Le Corbusier's famous chaise longue LC4.

Gervan was a small family Compagny installed at Ingelmunster. With no less than five new designs, Deforce aspired to put Belgian Design on the international map with the G-collection. The first design of the series, the Viterbo, was immediately a great commercial success, especially in the Netherlands. Other notable designs presented under the G-Collection were the models Hilton, President, TWen, Viterbo and Kwadrum.
